Portraits of smiling children make up a small group of photographs from the Uprising. Children are shown helping out the Insurgents, filling sand bags for the barricades, fetching water to put out fires, and going with their parents to hospitals and POW camps. Children are also found among the civilians, hiding in basements, taking part in gatherings, masses and funerals, or just playing. Military Press Reporter (PSW) Joachim Joachimczyk „Joachim” documented „Kukiełki pod barykadą” („Puppets under the barricade”), performances for children held in the yards of Powiśle district and the City Centre.
