Pictures of the barricades built by the insurgents make up a large group of photographs. They show the barricades themselves being built, shooting stations, as well as insurgents and other Warsaw residents posing for casual photographs with the barricades in the background. Photographed oftentimes was the barricade dividing Napoleon Square from Szpitalna Street in the City Centre North, as built inside of it was a German self-propelled light tank destroyer Jagdpanzer 38(t) “Hetzer”, nicknamed “Chwat” by Polish insurgents. Photographs of other types of fortifications, such as the trenches and tunnels that ran between basements and the insurgents’ bunkers, are also found here.
