Everyday life during the Uprising start slideshow >

This collection of images documents the everyday life during the period of the Warsaw Uprising. It equally shows the insurgents and the civilians in various situations, which were not directly connected to military action. Here are  photographs of canteens for the soldiers, field kitchens outside of bombarded buildings, and the basements in which city civilians were hiding. Shown is the building of a well and the carrying of water, which, due to German gunfire, was a dangerous task. A large group of the images are of insurgent and religious celebrations, e.g. the wedding of paramedic Alicja Treutler “Jarmuż” and Cadet Officer Bolesław Biega “Pałąk”. There are also views of insurgent Varsovian streets, on which few pedestrians stroll by.
