Marian Grabski „Wyrwa“
Leutenant Marian Grabski "Wyrwa" was born on 2 October 1897 in Łódź. Before the war, he received a Doctor of Law degree and worked as a lawyer. In the Uprising, he served in the Security Corps of Warsaw District of the Home Army. He fought in Wola, Old Town and the City Centre. After the capitulation, he left the city with the civilian population. Grabski died on 9 January 1965 in Warsaw.

  • The photographs taken by Marian Grabski number over 800, ranging over southern and northern City Centre. Besides documenting the ruins of the city, his images show the lives of the insurgents and civilians, arranged scenes of battles, hospitals, and various celebrations outside of their homes. A more intriguing part of the collection are a series of photographs from a field hospital in the Common Federal Bank on Zgoda Street, as well as the evacuation of the civilians before the end of the Uprising. Grabski portrayed his associates and friends, as well as children who helped the insurgents.
