Album of unknown German soldier „Erinnerungen”

An album of unknown Luftwaffe pilot includes 192 black-and-white photographs taken during World War II. The collection starts with a propaganda picture of German parade in occupied Warsaw and two portraits of album’s author. A substantial part of the album is made up of pictures showing buildings damaged as a result of artillery shelling and aerial bombardment during the siege of Warsaw in September 1939. Further are genre scenes taken during strolls in the city, street markets, men at work and graves of German soldiers. A subsequent group of photos shows Jewish individuals, taken probably in one of towns in south-eastern Poland. Further pages show combat action of September 1939 campaign around Rzeszów, Jarosław and Sanok. Finally there is a set of pictures from Warsaw Okęcie airfield taken over by Luftwaffe and several pictures taken during author’s trip to Sassnitz in Rügen island and in Greifswald centre in Mecklenburg
